Free Pattern Sunday: Owlettes by Brigette Read

At the risk of looking like a Brigitte Read (Roman Sock) groupie, I'm going to feature another of her free patterns this Sunday. Read's owlettes are part of her instant crochetification collection and work up in less than one hour. And, I have to say, they are ridiculously cute!

I made five owlettes in all (available on Etsy) using Patons Classic Wool Merino yarn and an owl eye sample pack from Clara at 6060.

If you're going to try this pattern, my only advice would be in step 3 pf the assembly instructions. Read indicates that you should "Stitch several times in each ear," but does not really identify how and where to make the stitches. I tried several different ways, but found that stitching from the outside of the ear in toward the center of the head worked best.

I hope you enjoyed this Sunday's free pattern and would love to see your owlettes. E-mail pictures to ibscrochet@gmail.com

P.S. If you'd like to see more pictures of my finished owlettes or get specifics on the yarn used, check out my project on Ravelry!
