How do you take your projects along?

I love bags. I love the 99-cent re-usable shopping bags you can pick up at just about any store now-a-days. I love tote bags. I love purses. I just really can't explain it, but I love every one of my bags, purses, and totes and actually get heartsick when one goes unused for a while!

And because I love yarn too, about half of my bags are filled with -- you guessed it -- YARN! So that got me to thinking... what do you use to tote your crochet projects? Do you have a special bag or do you go sweet and simple with a recycled grocery bag? What are the must-have features of your perfect project bag? Pockets for hooks and needles? A big space for yarn balls?

Tell me all about your favorite project bag (and include a link to buy online if you can!). In the mean time, here are a few of my favorites for your Friday morning coffee time...

My every day bag is a Mary Moon owl tote (like the one below).  This is the BEST bag for moms on the go, with plenty of room for diapers, snacks, a sippie cup... oh, and your stuff too!

Mary also has an adorable line of zippy bags that are perfect for hooks and notions!

I also love my one-skein project bag from Dancing Sheep. This is the perfect size for an amigurumi work-in-process or my other passion (knitting socks!)

If you tend a little more toward the strange with-teeth side of things, then a Gadabout by Abbydid is the way to go  (I have two).

I'm an equal-opportunity bag lover and while a lot of my favorites are hand made, some are not. For example, I love my Sherpani shoulder bag for hitting the trails with my husband and daughter.

I could probably go on and on, but I want to hear about your favorite bags too... so give me a shout!

  1. I've somehow aquired canvas totes over the years and love using those. The handles have to be long enough to go over the shoulder. But.... I'm looking for a new one. Something with a zipper so when I'm somewhere and set it down things don't go flying everywhere. Can't wait to see what others say.

  2. Mmmm... Canvas totes! I have a few of those too :-) My favorite is one I got free from the Humane Society with adorable lab puppy in a field of poppies.

By the way -- Mary Moon is a really great lady -- maybe she'd be willing to do a custom tote with a zipper for you?
