Free Pattern Sunday: Mini Turtle by SP Sandsteel

The mini turtle pattern has been in my Ravelry queue since about as long as I've had a Ravelry account. With Cleveland-area windchills putting temps below freezing and a pot of my chilli already on the stove, I decided that yesterday would be a great day to treat myself to a new pattern.

If you want to boil the entire thing down into two words, then let me just say that the finished turtles are "disgustingly cute." My turtles came out about the size of a fifty-cent piece and after seing the first one finished, there was no way I could stop at one!

The pattern is well-written and very easy to follow and each of the turtles took me about an hour. Better still, it's a great way to use up all those little scraps of sock yarn. You sock knitters will know what I'm talking about -- that tiny little wad of yarn left over after a pair of socks that is WAY to small to do anything with (except make a very ugly heel... or toe... but not both) yet just big enough to make you think twice about throwing it way.

I have a bunch of things on my work bench right now, but I have a funny feeling that they're going to be put aside one more day so that I can make a few more turtles.

If you decide to try the turtles, I'd love to see how yours come out! Send me an e-mail with your pictures at ibscrochet@gmail.com

  1. Thanks for the patterns here...I have been with some of them...well explained and guided. These turtles could also be used as pin holders....to get the utility bit of it.
